I know the WTCC isn't one of the most popular motorsport series around, but I follow this series quite closely.

in the top TC1 class will be the Lada Granta, the Honda Civic, Chevrolet Cruze and the Citroen C-Elysee. I think the Lada looks pretty good, ridiculous fender flares and all, but the Citroen takes the cake as far as which is the best looking of the bunch. I for one can't wait.

How's the Lada been doing lately? The last time I followed WTCC they were pretty much always in the back of the pack.

they showed some pace during the 2013 season, but had a ton of bad luck with collisions and such. in the last race of the year in Macau, one of the Ladas was set to finish on the podium before he was t-boned out of the race. I think their problem last year was with setting up their car for each track, because they were quick on some tracks and terrible on others.

this year, Lada is picking up the 2012 Champion in Rob Huff, I expect them to compete for podiums and even a win or 2 this year.

The Cruze is photoshopped by RML. We don't know what it looks like yet.

WTCC is a quite cool racing series, with tons of tight racing and action. Almost more action in one WTCC weekend than a whole F1 season.

Also, no Seat's or BMW's this year?

the WTCC is introducing a whole new set of regulations this year with new cars. unfortunately, SEAT and BMW pulled all official support from the WTCC a few years back, so without that there's really no way for those cars to be remade under the new regulations. Chevrolet pulled its support as well, but luckily RML has a ton of money and upgraded the car to the new regs themselves.

we may see the SEATs and BMWs under the TC2 class though run by "independent" teams, but they'll be a few seconds off the pace per lap so it won't really be like in the past, where independent teams could fight for wins.

point noted. from what I've read, I don't even think RML has delivered any Cruzes yet to any customers, so while it's not done yet, I'm sure it'll be close to their in-house -chop.

Ah, I knew they were private teams only now, but new regulations makes sense. Would love to see BMW make a comeback, as some tracks and combinations favor the RWD setup. If such a setup is possible with the new regulations, of course.

we will probably see a few BMWs on the grid this season I say, but only in the slower TC2 class using last year's cars. they banned the old Cruze in the TC2 class so it's going to be Leons and BMWs and it should be anyone's game there.
